I love creating and enjoying celebrations, but sometimes, even with the best plans and high expectations, the unexpected happensโand not always in a good way.
Once, while decorating a room, a small, thoughtfully sweet angel figurine fell to the ground and broke its leg. That day brought many unforeseen and unpleasant experiences along with it. I managed to fix the angelโs leg with glue, but its delicate little toes remained broken, lost somewhere beyond my reach. Now, this angel sits on my desk, serving as both inspiration for my work and a reminder of the importance of accepting loss.
I no longer want to place it on some impersonal shelfโalmost losing something or someone changes our perception of value. Though slightly damaged and imperfect, the angel will still bring joy this Christmas, proudly displayed in its place of honor.
Life often unfolds this wayโlosses bring pain, yet they also generate new energy, a shift in values, and newfound strength. Through these experiences, we gain a deeper sense of integrity, joy, and emotional fulfillment. No matter what we endure, the process of going through it creates new meaning and significance, giving rise to a profound numinous experienceโa sense of something greater that guides and enriches our lives.
This feeling becomes especially vivid in the shared spirit of the holiday season, where, on an archetypal level, all people are united in the anticipation of something meaningful. Just as one year transitions into the next, inviting us to pause, reflect, and reassess the path of our lives. โจ
